Hacienda La Danesa is a family-owned working cacao and dairy hacienda. Four years ago the farm opened its doors to accommodate travellers looking for unique and authentic experiences in their travels, specially before and after visiting the Galápagos Islands. It currently holds 6 rooms to offer intimate and exclusive experiencies to its discerning guests.

HISTORY & STORY

The hacienda is principally a working farm ran by Niels, owner and host, that offers a mindful approach to living the good life. The perfect compliment to the Galápagos Islands for guests to rest and relax. Hacienda La Danesa models hospitality with enduring expressions of land and family. Experiences are built upon the possibility of a meaningful exchange between the traveler and the host. Experiences offered are horse riding, chocolate workshops, tubing in lazy river, biking, beekeeping immersion, hiking in the cloud forest and waterfalls and mule riding with buffaloes. Some day excursions include the Ingapirca Ruins, Cuenca and the Churute Mangroves. The hacienda is easily accessible by road (1h15 from Guayaquil), train or helicopter.

DATE RENEWAL

2018. The Stables and Cottages were restored by Niels to convert them into beautifully designed and fitted out guest bedrooms. In 2019 a new Al Fresco social areas will be built. The farm’s reservoir will be converted into a pool. All Interior Design is done by the Olsen family.

The hacienda has been owned by the Olsen family for over 50 years and Niels, third generation dane, looks after guests and show them what made his upbringing in the countr’s lowland so special. Travellers arrive as guests and leave as friends !
