After seeing that their country is not being portrayed for its beauty the way it should, the Perkins family added the Illa Experience Hotel to their products as a new offer in Quito, Ecuador. The hotel is composed of a family dream rather than an investment that wants to provide workplaces for the community and integrate the community in tourism. Therefore, they have created this concept with love and hard work to provide excellent standards with personalized experiences that show Quito for what it is. By being the first hotel in Ecuador to offer this concept and personalized experimental traveling, the goal is to boost all quality standards in the entire country.

Maria Soledad Vaca is a dedicated woman who has been surrounded by tourism for decades. She has always enjoyed the way in which tourism manages to involve many people in a unified community that benefits many different people along the way. She is the type of person that studies, analyzes and cherishes what surrounds her and evaluates how she can add a little something special to make it grow.
By being born and raised in Quito and working her entire life in the tourism industry, Maria Soledad and her family fell in love with the neighborhood of San Marcos as it is the perfect place that still reflects the real essence of what Quito once was and should still be. Hence, she and her family had to make sure San Marcos remained alive, and there is no better way than through the industry that involves many hands and helpers.
Illa Experience Hotel is a project that has been dreamed and brought to reality by Maria Soledad and her family. With her working experience and her dedication, she ensures every day that Illa remains a place of peace and rest that transmits a sense of belonging and good venture while providing top luxury standards to all those who visit it, work at it and leave with the hope of returning.

HISTORY & STORY
Illa Experience Hotel was conceived as a family home that has a dream of reflecting Ecuador’s true essence through love, hard work, authenticity, and originality. Illa knows that luxurious standards will remain the same and may not even be noticed. Therefore it wants to deliver soul and essence to everyone that visits it, stays and wants to come back. Local traditions, real experiences are what Illa offers with the help of artisans and artists from the iconic and living town in which it is located, San Marcos. Guests will encounter a different type of experience at Illa, andhopefully, they will feel Illa as a whole which translates into the good venture, faith, harmony, and love.
The architecture and the design of the hotel have been carefully taken care of in a way that everything matches perfectly in a harmonious environment. Therefore, the house tells Quito’s history throughout time and that is something all guests will witness from the very first moment.

LOCATION
Illa Experience Hotel is nestled in the neighborhood of San Marcos, on one the historic center’s most dynamic and traditional streets: Calle Junín. For generations, San Marcos has been home to a dynamic community of writers, artists, and musicians, and its present-day charm owes much to the tight-knit community of residents. Neighbors still greet each other in the street, stopping by in the plaza to chat on a warm evening, which is something that has unfortunately been lost in these younger generations. In this small town that is two blocks long, you can be one with the town and its people. You will meet traditional hand-carved, traditional wooden toys; you may buy local produce from the farmer’s market or observe how the school kids play in the street. Besides from the cultural richness, one can see the historical and artistic richness through the restaurants, museums, workshops and the charming plaza.
