From the capital city of Quito, a 30 minute flight will bring you over the Eastern Andes mountain range to the city of Coca. Known as the "Gateway to the Amazon" since Francisco de Orellana's expedition here in 1541, it is conveniently located at the confluence of the Coca River and the Napo River.
A modern covered motorboat will take you on a comfortable 2.5 hour ride from the port of La Misión to the Napo Wildlife Center welcome station in Yasuní National Park. From there, we transfer to dugout canoes operated by expert guides in order to quietly paddle up Añangu Creek. This peaceful leg of the trip will lead us through undisturbed habitat which allows guests their first glimpses of incredible wildlife like the Hoatzin. As we enter Añangu Lake and approach the Napo Wildlife Center ecolodge, be prepared to be struck with awe as you soak up the magical vista!
There are so many incredible creatures pre-dating human history who call this rainforest home. Energy is generated by solar panels, industrial batteries, and silent generators, which is an efficient system with minimal environmental impact. All water is appropriately processed to maintain a healthy biome. Every aspect of life has been considered with both our guests and Mother Nature in mind.

With the highest density of biodiversity in the world, there are infinite chances for you to see an immense variety of plants, flowers, and wildlife. Typical jungle animals you can seek out while walking one of our many trails are: birds such as hoatzins, macaws, toucans, parakeets, and parrots; turtles, anacondas, and other reptiles; many insects and amphibians; mammals such as monkeys, tapirs, ocelots, and so much more!
CANOPY OBSERVATION TOWER
Get a close-up and personal view of the jungle and its diverse flora and fauna. One of our 36 meter observation towers was strategically built next to a huge tree to offer you the best view of the Amazon Rainforest. From high up in the canopy, you have a broad scope to observe the magnificent scale of the trees, flocks of colorful birds flying, troops of monkeys tussling, and an unobstructed view of miraculous Amazonia.
CANOE RIDING
Explore the black waters of the Añangu Lake and creeks on board a paddle-canoe or kayak. Motorized boats are also available to navigate the Napo River. In the Amazon jungle, you can discover hundreds of different aquatic animals such as fish, caimans, turtles, giant otters, and other exotic creatures. Don't forget to bring your camera and a sense of adventure!
Are the most stunning nature spectacles to see in the Amazonia. These are natural banks containing great amount of minerals that birds and different animals feed up with. This event starts early in the morning when hundreds of vibrantly colored birds visit the licks.
Learn about the Kichwa Anangu community traditions and culture of the Napo Wildlife Center hosts. Women of the community will welcome you with typical dances, rituals, handcrafts food and drinks.
